ArchivesAFter a concert last month in California, a music critic said the performance by Rock Star: Supernova, the lawsuit-created name of the group constructed on CBS’ Rock Star: Supernova, was like a car crash.
The show “drew one of the smallest crowds I’ve ever seen during 25 years of visiting the arena,” Jim Harrington writes. He added that the show’s winner, Lukas Rossi, “was so dreadful, coming across like a rock-singer puppet on strings, that it was hard to pay attention to the other musicians. Like a car crash, one that is so devastating that you can’t pay attention to the rest of the scenery, Rossi dominated this show for better or for (mainly) worse.”
Fans seem to agree. As of last month, the groups’ debut album has “sold a mere 49,000 copies in the United States since its November 21, 2006 release,” according to Blabbermouth.
Despite the poor reception to the second season’s group, some fans want CBS to renew the show; some fans have started a letter-writing campaign. CBS’ executives haven’t cancelled the show, but it has also yet to be officially renewed.
