He is “ready to give reality TV dating another shot after things fizzled with Rock of Love winner Jes,” VH1 says, adding that the cast will get bigger for the second season, and that its debut won’t be far off: “more girls (20, to be exact), more challenges, more turn-ons and more diabeetus in the second season of Rock of Love, which is coming…well, sooner than you might think!”
The show will debut in “early 2008,” Bret’s MySpace blog says; it also says “Bret and Jes’ romance faded as the reality of their TV contracts set in and kept the two of them apart for more than six months.” While that could be just an excuse, it’d also be interesting if VH1 did that intentionally. The network smartly keeps its stars around for second (and in Flavor Flav’s case, third) seasons of their shows, because why risk lower ratings with a different celebrity? Thus, the relationship’s failure is necessary to ensure the show becomes a successful franchise.
An open casting call notice posted last month said that the women had to be 21 by November 1, which means the production will probably start then or soon after.
