Fox Reality cancels Reality Remix, orders “cynical” Reality Binge

Reality Remix, the Kennedy-hosted show that acted as a sort of Entertainment Tonight of reality television, has been cancelled by Fox Reality. In its place, the network has ordered a weekly show that’s more “cynical.”

Comedian Eric Toms will host the new hour-long, weekly series, which “will feature clip packages, original sketches and comedy segments, among other elements,” according to Variety. Reality Remix ends May 22, the night after American Idol 7’s finale airs, and Reality Binge will debut July 10 at 7.

“It’s sad to see old ‘Remix’ go, but we wanted to take a different approach. This is taking a cynical look at the most out-of-control, out-of-the-box, out-of-their-mind minutes of reality TV, and celebrating them in all their glory,” network president David Lyle said.

Full disclosure: I filmed a segment for the pilot of Reality Remix (a review of Big Brother 6), and although the show got picked up, I did not, so I am glad to dance on its grave.
