Steven Soderbergh says reality TV is “as far from reality as you can imagine”

Another Hollywood personality has found it necessary to kick reality TV in the stomach in order to promote his own new product. This time, it’s Steven Soderbergh.

The director of “Ocean’s Twelve,” who still owes me $6.50 for watching that, says reality television is “as far from reality as you can imagine and more fictionalized than the movies you see.” He argues that, on reality TV, “They’re forcing the issue onto characters” and trying to “force these people to be humiliated.”

Sounds like someone’s humiliated that his only major attempt at TV, HBO’s “K Street,” was about as interesting to watch as toenail clippings decomposing—and worse, was probably watched by far fewer people than tune in every week for Tommy Hilfiger’s The Cut.
