Four of the season’s top 10 shows were reality.
Ratings are in from the 2004-2005 television season, and although drama made a resurgence thanks to Desperate Housewives and Lost, reality TV still delivered. Last year, “Half of last season’s top 10 new programs were reality series,” but this year, “No unscripted show cracked the top 10 among new series,” USA TODAY reports. However, along all shows, four of the top 10 shows were reality. Those represent two series, American Idol and both seasons of Survivor, as The Hollywood Reporter’s grid shows. Both Apprentices and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition landed in the top 20, while The Amazing Race 7 came in at 25, with the series’ sixth season arriving at 31. There were also plenty of reality duds: Last season’s least-watched show was The WB’s Big Man on Campus, with The Starlet coming in two places from the bottom, and High School Reunion and FOX’s The Complex: Malibu both came in the bottom 10.
