despite reported problems, Reality 24-7 network “is still set to launch this year.”
Reality 24-7, the network formerly known as Reality Central and headed by The Amazing Race contestant Blake Mycoskie, USA Network creator Kay Koplovitz, and E! creator Larry Namer, is apparently still alive. First announced in 2004, the network was set to debut a year ago tomorrow, on Jan. 15, 2004. But the launch was delayed, its fan web site hasn’t been updated since October, and the company hasn’t issued a press release since late July. And last summer, FOX announced plans for its own reality network, FOX Reality Channel, which it says will debut in 17 million homes. In late December, The Capital Times reported that Reality 24-7 “is struggling with legal battles and financing. So if you are looking for 24/7 reality, Fox looks like it’ll be first out the gate in 2005.” That all sounds pretty ominous. But the network apparently isn’t dead, as a spokesperson tells reality blurred that the cable network “is still set to launch this year. They are currently working on financing and programming and logistics behind the scenes and will be back in the news when they have something to announce.”
