While the President’s daughters, Jenna and Barbara Bush, clearly would make good reality TV stars, they’ve turned down two separate offers to star in their own series. We learn this courtesy of an interview with Laura Bush forthcoming in TV Guide, which Wonkette excerpts. The magazine asked her a hypothetical question about what would happen if “your daughters come home one day and say, ‘Mom, a TV producer wants to follow us around and make a reality show about us.” Laura’s answer: “It’s not hypothetical.” The First Lady’s press secretary said that “Two different production houses sent offers in,” both of which were rejected. That’s because, as Laura said, her girls wouldn’t want to go all Paris and Nicole: “The girls wouldn’t come to me and say, ‘Can I have your blessing?’ They would say, ‘We definitely do not want to do this.’”
