ArchivesDemocrats launch Republican Survivor.
Starting today, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee will air Republican Survivor on its DTripTV web site. George Bush, Dick Cheney, Ann Coulter, John Ashcroft, Katherine Harris, and Tom DeLay—“your least favorite GOP backstabbers and cheats”—will battle it out over the animated series’ six-week run; viewers will be able to vote one person off the island every week. In the trailer that’s currently on the site, the show is an obvious parody of Survivor; Bush stabs himself in the foot with a knife, and Cheney runs around naked a la Richard Hatch. A Republican party spokesperson tells USNews’ Washington Whispers, “Cartoons don’t win elections.” No, 49,050 negative and often inaccurate ads win elections, or at least that’s the idea.
