Ben Silverman, producer of The Restaurant, says “The real story of the fall is derivative programming doesn’t work.” In other words, crappy knock-offs don’t work. Producer Chuck Barris said that “[r]eality shows are basically gameshows, and gameshows are reciprocal. If (the genre) dips, it will certainly come up again.”
