Archivesreality TV Meetup to be held in May.
The independent site that exists to let people with similar interests meet monthly in their communities has added gatherings for fans of reality TV. Meetup.com’s International Reality TV Meetup Day will take place next week on May 4, and on the first Tuesdays of subsequent months. There are already dozens of more specific TV-related meetups, such from Buffy to Bill O’Reilly, Star Trek to Sex and the City. There are also meetups for specific reality TV shows, such as the International The Amazing Race Meetup Day (53 members worldwide), the International American Idol Meetup Day (198 members), the International Big Brother Meetup Day (221 members), and the International Queer Eye for the Straight Guy Meetup Day (95 members). By comparison, Howard Dean’s new organization Democracy for America has more than 165,000 people signed up, most of whom were signed up to meet monthly during his campaign. So far, just one person—located in Charlotte, NC—is signed up for the reality TV meetup.
