ArchivesABC’s reality TV awards cancelled because other nets wouldn’t participate.
ABC planned to tape a reality TV show awards ceremony Nov. 23, but the show, produced by Don Mischer, has been cancelled. The reason: “We need the cooperation of all the networks to show clips of shows that would be nominated. We were simply denied that use. The producers of shows were very much behind this, but for whatever reason, the networks weren’t,” Mischer says. An exec at another network says “I don’t think it was a legitimate awards show.” Additionally, Mischer says “in several cases…judges and producers would be discouraged from participating” in The Reality Awards 2003. They’re apparently punishing ABC for airing Are You Hot? and giving Lorenzo Lamas a job.
