Survivor engagement; Sean Duffy’s vagina problem; truTV star arrested; buy Honey Boo Boo’s cookies

Before links to some of the more interesting things that happened in the past week in reality TV, a programming note: I’ll be taking a few days off at the start of next week, so back Wednesday or Thursday with new posts. (I will, unbelievably, miss the finale of Joe Schmo: The Full Bounty, as I won’t even have access to a TV on Tuesday.)

  • Survivor South Pacific’s Whitney Duncan and Keith Tollefson are getting married.
  • The Real World Boston’s congressman Sean Duffy sidestepped a question about transvaginal ultrasounds from a pro-life questioner, saying only that he’s never had one, apparently because he doesn’t have a vagina and/or doesn’t appreciate someone else violating his vagina.
  • A woman who appeared on truTV’s Full Throttle Saloon was arrested in Florida after Wednesday’s episode revealed she’d defrauded her way onto the show.
  • American Idol has added live Twitter polls to distract us from the terrible singing. Also, the season will end earlier than usual.
  • Honey Boo Boo and her mom June Thompson are selling Girl Scout Cookies on Facebook, except she’s not a Girl Scout and the Girl Scouts weren’t happy because selling online is against their rules. But June insisted they’d keep selling to help a family friend: “If I can raise more money for a troop, whoever they are, especially in an area where they don’t get a lot of money, and parents can’t afford to buy a ton of cookies, why wouldn’t I help? … We’re doing nothing wrong.”
  • Morissey cancelled an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live because he didn’t want to be on an episode that also featured the stars of Duck Dynasty, who may be more popular than he is right now.
  • The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga, and Caroline Manzo are reportedly in group therapy.
  • Being Mandela is a Real Housewives-style series that follows Nelson and Winnie Mandela’s granddaughters Zaziwe Dlamini-Manaway and Swati Dlamini. It debuted this month on the new Cozi TV and will air in South Africa in April. (Disclaimer: I’m quoted in the article and there’s clearly some Bob Woodward-style exaggeration in the way I’m identified.)
  • The Biggest Loser host Alison Sweeney gives a tour of the house and workout areas, and by tour, I mean, she snoops around while the contestants are somewhere else.
