ArchivesQueer Eye for the Straight Guy returns for a fourth season tonight at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo, and the show has undergone a tiny makeover of its own. Its name is now Queer Eye, which is such a monumental change that even Bravo’s web designers forgot to make it on the show’s site. Tonight, the Fab Five make over the Boston Red Sox, or at least those team members who agreed to risk their facial hair and masculinity to appear on the show.
The Boston Globe reports on the minor controversy the team members’ appearance—and the Fab Five’s appearance at a game to throw out the first pitch—has caused. One fan was upset because, as the paper reports, “Yankees fans razzed Red Sox fans relentlessly about the makeovers during a series in Yankee Stadium.” The paper talks to a few homophobes (“keep it to yourselves,” one says) and to people who just don’t see why having washed-up reality stars throw out a pitch and wax the backs of a few team members is causing so much consternation.
