ex-wife of Queer Eye’s Ray says he’s “an adulterer, a bigamist and not a good father.”
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy began its third season with a tear-jerking episode that featured “Private First Class Ray S. [who was] set to ship out for a year-and-a-half tour of duty in Iraq.” Ray had to rush to marry Maria, the woman he lives with and mother of his daughter, as their marriage in Colombia apparently wasn’t valid in the US. Ray Steele’s ex-wife says that the show shouldn’t have “glorified him,” and actually says her ex is “an adulterer, a bigamist and not a good father.” She’s also pissed that the Fab Five “unceremoniously dumped belonged to her—a gift from her late grandparents,” the New York Post reports. Of course, she’s an objective, completely unbiased source for reliable information about her ex-husband. The bigamist part comes because, as the Post says, “the original wedding happened before Ray divorced her, making him a bigamist.” For its part, Bravo says, “Issues were raised. We’ve looked into the matter and have determined the claims are not true.” And Ray’s lawyer adds that, in Colombia, “There was a ceremony with her family and friends for him to commit himself to her and profess his love. But there was no marriage.”
+ also: 1.5 million watched this episode, “making it Bravo’s highest rated program for the season.”
