Lifetime releases Project Runway 6 trailer

Lifetime has given us our first real look at the new Project Runway, which debuts next month.

Everything looks very familiar, from the runway set to Tim Gunn’s fretting, despite the Los Angeles setting and change of producers. The biggest change appears to be that the workroom now has windows. Besides the annoying narrator, the weirdest part of the trailer is that someone took “runway” a little too literally and show Heidi and Tim standing on an actual runway next to a Lifetime branded plane. I get that the show moved to Lifetime and the plane helps communicate that, but a tarmac?

As part of the trailer, there’s also a preview of the brand-new spin-off series Models of the Runway, which looks like it could either be fun or ridiculously pointless. “I’m sorry, but I want my designer back,” one model yells at another, apparently having not learned her designer’s name. Of course, she has no control over that, nor over her place in the competition, since it’s the clothes they wear, not their walks or behavior, that affects their standings. Thus, arguing over that, at least, is pointless.
