Project Runway 6

Project Runway 6 may be delayed until summer

Although production on Project Runway 6 is underway in Los Angeles, where new producers Bunim/Murray have taken over the show, the series may not air until next summer because of the judge’s recent decision to block Lifetime from airing it. It could even move to NBC.

The Los Angles Times reports that “barring a settlement agreement, it appears highly unlikely that ‘Runway’ will be back on the air in January in time for a finale at New York Fashion Week in February, as Lifetime had hoped. That means it would be delayed until at least late summer so the finalists could show their collections at fashion week in September.”

The paper notes that if NBC Universal wins its lawsuit, “[i]t’s all but certain that the show wouldn’t go back to Bravo,” as “[b]efore their negotiations ended, NBC Universal and [show owner Harvey] Weinstein were discussing airing ‘Runway’ on a different network, perhaps even as part of NBC’s prime-time schedule.”

Although it reportedly began production in mid-September, the paper says that “production is nearly complete on the sixth season,” so clearly one of those reports is off; it typically takes about a month to film a season.

Heidi Klum also had this insight to offer about fans’ reaction to the delay: “I think they’re going to be sad if they have to wait. And, of course, we will be sad too. But we’re all sitting in the same boat. We don’t really know what is going to happen,” she said.

Yes, we’ll all be sad together, as if we aren’t sad enough about the show—and Kenley’s presence on it—right now.
