ArchivesMinutes ago, Project Runway 5’s final six designers Jerrell, Suede, Joe, Kenley, Korto finished presenting their collections at Fashion Week in front of an audience that included surprise guest judge Tim Gunn, as guest judge Jennifer Lopez could not attend.
Jezebel is live blogging the show, and reports that Heidi Klum announced “Jennifer Lopez had a foot inury so she could not be here.”
Bravo is Twittering the show live, and confirmed that Tim is the new guest judge. And after the show, mentor turned judge Tim Gunn said on the feed, “This was a great show! One of the better ones.” So is there a slight—or major—problem with fairness, since, as he always does, Tim probably visited them as they worked and gave advice?
Anyway, the network’s reports include occasional pictures, although not of the clothes, which should be posted here and elsewhere later today. It does include some information about their collections, though, like the fact that Kenley’s was inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
Meanwhile, Project Runway 4 winner Christian Siriano presented a collection Thursday night. His “standout pieces were his tiered chiffon gowns that spiraled around the body in shades of gray with chartreuse accents,” and “The audience erupted in applause before Mr. Siriano even emerged to take his runway bow,” the Wall Street Journal reported.
Update: Tim told inTouch, “I am really thrilled about judging. All I know is that I was called at the last minute this morning. No one was more surprised than I! I thought, ‘Okay, let’s make it work.”” And Heidi Klum said, “We didn’t have any time. We were really excited to have Jennifer Lopez because I think she is such a beautiful woman with amazing style. We were really sad. Tim is perfect. He has such a huge fan base and is so knowledgeable.”
