Project Runway brand licensed to companies producing sewing machines, fabrics, and more

Project Runway brand sewing machines, fabrics, patterns, sewing accessories and more will soon be in stores.

That’s because its producers just “completed five multi-year licensing agreements with category partners to coincide with the airing of the fourth season,” the Weinstein Company said in a press release. Those brands are Brother International, Aaron Company, Prym Consumer, Robert Kaufman Fabrics, and Simplicity Pattern Co., and the products they’ll release include “jewelry, sewing patterns, fashion fabric as well as sewing machinery and notions.”

The senior vice president for global integrated marketing at the Weinstein Company—yes, they have such a position—talks about Project Runway’s “brand” and says their agreement to whore out that brand “marks one of the most comprehensive consumer product licensing programs ever launched by a reality television series. We’ve seen how Project Runway resonates with consumers and with the show’s tremendous reach and credibility within the fashion community, it is a natural platform for brand extensions,” Pam Henning said.
