Project Runway wins GLAAD award, giving Tim Gunn his “proudest moment”

Bravo’s Project Runway 3 was named the most outstanding reality program last night by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

Tim Gunn accepted the award, and according to a Bravo press release, he said, “I don’t know whether people realize the seminal work of Bravo and, by definition Bravo’s support of the LGBT community. Beginning with ‘Queer Eye’ and transcending to ‘Project Runway’ and ‘Work Out,’ Bravo’s content dispels myths, challenges stereotypes and positions LGBT issues thoughtfully and respectfully. Winning this award is quite possibly my proudest moment.”

Bravo’s president, Lauren Zalaznick, said, “This GLAAD award recognizes Bravo’s commitment to present our diverse and eclectic view of the world through the creativity of our programming.”

The network points out that it had “three of the five nominations in the” category. The other nominated show’s were Bravo’s Work Out and Queer Eye, while The Amazing Race and Big Brother All-Stars (what the hell?) were also nominated.
