Jeffrey: reports on cheating investigation came from “bottom feeding, sludge dredging, no-life having journalists”

Last week’s news that Project Runway 3 producers investigated allegations that Jeffrey Sebelia cheated has prompted a reply from Jeffrey.

To recap, Jeffrey was apparently struggling to finish his collection when Tim Gunn visited, and has been bad at sewing all season. So “when Sebelia showed up in Bryant Park three weeks later with a miraculously finished collection,” as Us Weekly reports, Laura—whose mom is friends with Jeffrey’s mom—accused him of cheating.

Jeffrey posted a response to the reports on a fan’s MySpace page. That response, according to Us Weekly, is as follows:

“Hey!!! Thanks for the concern, but all I have to say is be careful of what you read and also of what is presented in the press. Those people take any information they get (usually unfounded rumors) and just print them in order to bolster their own readership with no regard to the person they might be slandering. They are just doing their job as bottom feeding, sludge dredging, no-life having journalists.”

That’s strong criticism, especially considering the fact that New York Magazine quoted Tim Gunn (of all people) who confirmed that there was an investigation. It’s one thing to deny cheating, another to tell people just to watch the show to see the outcome. But this denial is way over the top, especially considering that we know that there was an investigation.
