Project Runway shows up in People, Wired, and on Best Week Ever

The fact that a fashion-based reality show has quickly become a hit on a cable network is one thing, but now Project Runway is saturating previously unsaturated parts of popular culture.

For example, People interviews Tim Gunn this week and calls him “a celebrity,” albeit one with a brain. Also, this month’s Wired magazine notes that “geeky hearts sank” when Diana Eng left the competition. So, the magazine asked her to sketch “three fantasy outfits that take advantage of technologies still in the lab,” which are on page 38 of the March issue.

Tim Gunn showed up on Best Week Ever last weekend to make fun of himself—and, of course, certify his stardom. “He could make any show better,” panelist Doug Benson said, and then presented a clip of the hypothetical TGN, the Tim Gunn Network, on which Tim interviews Dick Cheney and stands in for the Verizon guy.
