Project Greenlight moves to Bravo, and involve the Hollywood studio system.
Despite Ben Affleck’s earlier statement that Bravo “would never pick up” Project Greenlight, the cable network has indeed grabbed the show from HBO, according to TV Guide. However, Affleck says they’re “going to make some changes to the contest this year.” Instead of producing an independent film, “we’re going to show what it is like to make a movie in the studio system. It will have different demands and constraints on the filmmakers,” he says. Will a film developed via the Hollywood studio system be more successful than the first two? Affleck says, “Who knows? … For the number of questions I get about Greenlight, [why] didn’t you guys buy any goddamned tickets to the movie when it came out? The press loves the show, but they all get to go for free. That’s the curse of that show.”
