Battle of Shaker Heights opens in NY, LA; Project Greenlight 2 finale Sunday.
The Battle of Shaker Heights opens today in New York and Los Angeles, after having its production chronicled on Project Greenlight 2, which concludes Sunday evening. As the film’s trailer shows, the final edit definitely apparently centers on the more comedic material, making the film seem like a coming-of-age teen comedy. Reviewers aren’t too thrilled with the film calling it “another bleached photocopy”, “rather superior to the first effort, ‘Stolen Summer,’ but not by much”, and “simply negligent filmmaking”. One reviewer, though, says the film is joyful filmmaking, starkly insightful and utterly involving. And all seem to agree that the star of the film is its star, Shia LaBeouf. He’s been signed to films produced by both New Line Cinema and 20th Century Fox, which “has cast him opposite Will Smith in ‘I, Robot,’” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Screenwriter Erica Beeney is also doing well; she is writing Corporate Spy, a series being developed by Viacom.
