Once mentioned as a possible fourth judge on American Idol, Pop Idol judge Pete Waterman says he’s quitting—for a year. Waterman told Radio Five Live, “I only went home five times last year, I just want a break this year. I love Pop Idol, don’t get me wrong, but I thought this year wasn’t as good as the first.” Waterman’s fellow UK judge Simon Cowell threatens to quit the US show more times than he says the word “dreadful,” so we’ll see if his threat lasts.
