judge confirms Pop Idol 3 for early 2005; Will Young wins award, films next video.
The country that spawned the Idol franchise will get a third season of the show—right around the time that the American version enters its fourth season. Show judge Dr. Fox said that he and the other three judges, including Simon Cowell, will return for Pop Idol 3 next fall, two years after the second season. Fox tells The Daily Star that despite the second winner’s less-than-ideal chart performance, “Pop Idol is ideal for finding new talent. Just look at Will Young, he is still around three years on from winning the competition. We need another one like him.” Speaking of Will Young, he received the award for “Best Song Musically & Lyrically at the Ivor Novello Awards for songwriters, composers and publishers,” MTV UK reports. Additionally, while filming the video for his new video “Friday’s Child,” he “delighted watching fans by rolling down his wetsuit before taking the plunge,” according to The Daily Record. If you want to know what so delighted fans, this photo of “Will’s Willy” [via Tottyland] should answer any lingering questions.
