Pop Idol voting jams phone lines; man “unable to call an ambulance.”
A family says that they were “unable to call an ambulance” or anyone else for two hours on Saturday; that coincided for the telephone voting of the Pop Idol winner. The phone company, Telewest, says “[t]here was congestion on the network” but says the “network did not crumble or anything like that.”
