Will Young wins Pop Idol.
William Young beat Gareth Gates by half a million votes on Saturday and was crowned Pop Idol. The 23-year-old’s first CD will be released on Feb. 25. All is not lost for Gareth, 17, though; judge Simon Cowell has offered him a record contract. Around 13 million people watched, beating the total of viewers for the UK’s Popstars finale.
