Next week: gators get rescued, Deadliest Catch returns, and Bravo gets its Jon and Kate
It’s time for our weekly look back at the past week in reality TV and ahead at the next week. Lots of weeks.
The Past
- This past week, we heard some of the most horrific singing ever, and it wasn’t even on American Idol, where voters seem to not actually care about singing so they dumped a decent singer who the judges saved. Another show is losing a cast member: Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing’s most obnoxious cast member is leaving. We also learned that Jersey Shore will actually return to the Jersey shore, while Jon and Kate’s kids will return to TLC on some specials.
Meanwhile, Celebrity Apprentice got even more zany with its muggles and wizards, muggles and wizards, and in the most shocking news of the week, TLC revealed who they insist is America’s favorite mom (hint: not someone anyone thinks of as America’s favorite mom).
The Forward
- Friday, April 9 Tonight, CMT launches two new reality shows that follow people with dangerous jobs: Gator 911 [CMT, 9 p.m.], which follows Gator Country owner Gary Saurage as he rescues gators from various places, and Danger Coast [CMT, 9:30 p.m.], which follows Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Marine Operations Bureau. There’s another new docudrama debuting tonight: Private Chefs of Beverly Hills [Food Network, 10 p.m.], which follows a company that provides chefs for private events and such. Speaking of food, Gordon Ramsay revisits places he tried to rescue on Kitchen Nightmares: Revisited [Fox, 9 p.m.], and may or may not scream at them.
- Sunday, April 11
Undercover Boss [CBS, 9 p.m.] ends its first season with an episode featuring 1-800-FLOWERS. On cable, brother and sister Ray J and Brandy let viewers into their lives and business on Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business [VH1, 9 p.m.], while seven best friends who happen to be in relationships with NBA players are followed on Baskeball Wives [VH1, 9:30 p.m.]. In exciting news, tonight’s episode of The Amazing Race [CBS, 8 p.m.] is titled “The Dumb Did Us In.” Ohplease ohplease ohplease let Brent and Caite go home, or at least fall into a well. - Monday, April 12
Steve and JoAnn Ward counsel six pairs of people who are in relationships on Tough Love: Couples [VH1, 9 p.m.], and by “counsel,” I mean “swear at them.” - Tuesday, April 13
Bravo gets into the Jon and Kate game with 9 By Design [Bravo, 11 p.m.], a series that follows a couple in New York with seven kids that they shuffle around as they renovate places. Deadliest Catch returns [Discovery, 9 p.m.] for a season that will include tragedy, and Tiny & Toya return for a second season [BET, 10 p.m.]. Finally, American Idol [Fox, 8 p.m.] is down to 88-minute episodes, clearing the way for Glee’s return—woo!
