Disabled model competition Britain’s Missing Top Model debuts on BBC America tonight

The 2008 BBC reality competition Britain’s Missing Top Model comes to the U.S. tonight when BBC America debuts the series at 9 p.m. ET. The show is pretty much Top Model, but its eight contestants, who are competing for a photo shoot and Marie Claire spread, are disabled.

Their disabilities range from being deaf to having missing limbs, and the show’s web site says it “sets out to challenge the fashion industry’s boundaries and redefine society’s concept of the ideal woman.” How did Tyra Banks not think of this first?
