ArchivesVH1 makes fun of models tonight at 9 p.m. ET when it debuts America’s Most Smartest Model, which borrows from America’s Next Top Model’s nine-season-old format in the same way that VH1’s Flavor of Love borrowed from The Bachelor. The entire first episode has been online on VH1.com this past week, and the casting special is available for free on iTunes.
The 14 (or maybe 16, as some reports say) models all “think they could be the smartest in America,” and “will face challenges that put both their overall intelligence and their beauty to the test,” according to VH1. Ben Stein and Mary Alice Stephenson host, and the winner gets $100,000.
Executive producer Mark Cronin told the New York Post that they genuinely searched for smart models, but they did ensure they’d have good TV. “I won’t lie and say that we were casting only for smart people. I believe all the models that came on the show thought they could win. That’s what’s so great about stupid people. Sometimes they have no clue.”
