Max and Laura win NBC’s Grease, which lost 58 percent of its 18-49 viewers

NBC’s competition Grease: You’re The One That I Want concluded last night, and the few viewers who were left watching selected Max Crumm and Laura Osnes to lead the next Broadway production of Grease.

They “have appeared in regional productions” of the show, according to Variety: “Osnes played Sandy in a Minneapolis production, while L.A.-based Crumm has appeared (although not as Danny) in two different stagings of the tuner.” The new Broadway production opens August 19 at the Brooks Atkinson Theater, but previews start in late July.

Ratings for the show “were modest at best, with aud size in recent weeks averaging around 6 million,” Variety reports. And Media Life notes that, compared to the premiere, the finale was “down 58 percent” among viewers 18 to 49. The finale’s ratings improved “in its second half hour,” but that only proved how few people cared, as that increase “only brought it even to last week’s rating,” Media Life reports.
