Tila Tequila selects a boy; MTV spins off show starring Domenico

MTV’s Shot of Love with Tela Tequila ended Tuesday with its bisexual star, Tila Tequila, selecting Bobby, a man. She’ll reunite with him and everyone she rejected Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.

While the outcome might fuel rumors that she’s not really bisexual, Tila told the AP that she is. “If they’re going to accuse me of something like that, they could’ve at least been more articulate about it, instead of calling me an ‘MTV skank.’ It’s not valid at all. It’s so off the charts, it’s like, ‘Wow. That’s really absurd.’”

The finale was watched by “a whopping 6.2 million total viewers” and “was the second-most-watched MTV telecast of the year in total viewers and in 12-34 (5 million), behind the 2007 Video Music Awards, according to The Hollywood Reporter, while the AP reported that the show was actually “MTV’s second most popular series.” Only The Hills had more viewers.

As a result, MTV has announced a spin-off, That’s Amore, a six-episode series following Shot of Love’s Domenico Nesci as he looks for love among 15 women. In other words, it’s an extremely desperate attempt to extend the franchise’s popularity.
