ArchivesThe conclusion of the second season of Run’s House ended with Rev. Run’s wife Justine Simmons telling everyone she was pregnant. That pregnancy ended tragically Tuesday when she gave birth to Victoria Anne Simmons, who died as a result of birth defects.
The show was renewed for a second season, and “a camera crew … was in the delivery room when the baby arrived by Cesarean section and died a short time later,” the New York Daily News’ Lloyd Grove reports.
TMZ first reported the news and noted that cameras were at the hospital, but did not know at the time that the birth was filmed. According to TMZ, “the baby girl was born with organs outside the body [and] died a short time later.”
Late yesterday, Rev. Run released a statement saying,
“On Sept. 26, 2006, Victoria Anne Simmons for some unknown reason chose to come early and unfortunately did not survive,” his statement said. “We must accept whatever is there and once you accept unconditionally, then everything is beautiful. Every pain has a purifying effect. So whatever comes your way, just be thankful. We see life in death and believe in the celebration of life in death.”
