Starz debuts Looking for Stars tonight

Starz, the series of pay movie channels, is launching its own reality TV talent search tonight with Looking for Stars, which debuts at 8:50 p.m. ET.

Kind of like the Animal Planet series Meow Mix House that debuted Friday, this show is also for those with short attention spans: episodes last just 10 minutes. Over 14 of those quick episodes, 300 auditioners in five cities will be narrowed to eight finalists, one of whom will win “a speaking role in an upcoming Revolution Studios picture,” according to the show’s web site.

That film is Next, an action/sci-fi/thriller that stars Nicolas Cage, Julianne Moore, and Jessica Biel. Among the judges for the contest are, in New York, Gawker editor Jessica Coen, and former MTV VJ Alan Hunter, who will appear in all five cities.
