Above Singapore, 36 couples are trying to win $30,000 by staying in a cable car for seven days. Survive the Sky contestants “must stay inside cabins equipped only with benches and a basic intercom system, except for one 10 minute break each day, when they can step out at cable car stations,” according to Reuters. In the first two days, 10 couples were eliminated. A spokesperson explains why one couple left: “We had one couple this morning who vomited everywhere, even over the other couple.” The teams—from “Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and South Korea”—compete in tasks and suffer abuse at the hands of producers, who “thrust candy at the couples to see if they will breach rules on meals, or ply them with surprise challenges such as requests to hop on one foot during the breaks.”
