The humiliation ends tonight when The WB airs the seventh and final episode of Superstar USA, its Idol spoof. The three finalists will perform and then host Brian McFayden will risk injury to his pretty face by telling them they’ve been screwed. Ratings for the series have been poor (Variety says it’s “bringing a male aud to the net but is not performing that well overall”), as has critical reaction, so the joke’s on The WB. If a quasi-serious competition like American Idol can launch William Hung, did we really need a show that just produces crappy singers?
