cowboys and cars are the subjects of current and upcoming reality TV shows.
In CMT’s Cowboy U 2004, “four men and four women … said goodbye to modern conveniences such as phones and indoor showers for life on a real working ranch.” They’ll participate in a “final challenge where they must rope a steer, barrel race and ride a 1,200-pound live bull in hopes of earning the $25,000 cash prize and custom-made Cowboy U 2004 saddle.” Three episodes air back-to-back tomorrow night starting at 9 p.m. ET, with two more episodes airing on the following Fridays. The show concludes Feb. 6.

Meanwhile, a bunch of new shows focus on cars in one way or another. Joining shows such as Monster Garage and American Chopper will be American Hot Rod on the Discovery channel. There’s also Overhaulin’ on TLC, which is a sort of Trading Spaces for cars. Finally, Spike TV is also airing The Reality of Speed, which follows “young members of two teams on the NASCAR circuit,” according to Newsday’s wrap-up of the programs.
