groups want Green Card series off the air.
The popular Spanish-language show in Los Angeles that features contestants competing in stunts for a chance to be represented during the Green Card process has come under fire. “Immigrant rights groups say the show gives a false impression of how the immigration process works and ridicules those seeking legal status in the United States,” the Los Angeles Times reports. “They said it also makes contestants who are illegal immigrants potential targets for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.” The station that airs the show and producers say Gana La Verde will continue. The show’s creator and general manager of KRCA-TV says, “At the end of the day, we have had no viewer complaints and no complaints from anyone who has participated in the show.”
