Global Extremes ends today with 8.5 hour live broadcast from Mt. Everest.
Outdoor Life Network’s Global Extremes: Mt. Everest will conclude this afternoon with an eight and a half hour live broadcast from Mt. Everest that ends with the finalists reaching the summit, assuming all goes well. Fifty years ago next Thursday, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay reached the summit; today, the show’s five finalists join many other groups (including climbers from India, China and South Korea, and the US that have already reached the summit) in commemorating that event. OLN’s coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. ET and continues until midnight. The network hoped it would be the first to air live footage from the top, but they were beaten by two Tibetans whose video aired live on China Central Television.
