Freshman Diaries debuts Sunday.
American High producer RJ Cutler turns his cameras on a group of kids once again, but this time, they’re in college, and on cable. Showtime’s 10-episode Freshman Diaries, which debuts Sunday at 9:30 p.m. ET and repeats at 11 and often after that, follows 16 first-year students at the University of Texas in Austin, and also includes footage shot by the students themselves. The San Francisco Chronicle says it “isn’t an automatic groan-fest” and even “manages to feel quaint.” The New York Times says it “is edited to highlight drinking, parties, sex, angst and more drinking” and “is a useful reminder of how television—and in this generation, reality television—has homogenized American culture.”
