ArchivesThe Sunday debut of the History Channel’s docudrama Ice Road Truckers was the most-watched show ever on the network—and beat a network reality series.
A total of 3.4 million viewers watched, which is “the best number ever racked up by a series episode in the network’s 12-year history,” according to Variety. In addition, the show was watched by 1.8 million people ages 18 to 49, and 2 million ages 25 to 54, both of which are better than “anything else the cabler has ever run, series or specials.”
Week-end ratings showed that the new series was watched by more people than FOX’s On the Lot, which airs on Tuesdays and fell to just 2.8 million viewers last week, E! News reports. That’s only surprising because The History Channel is a cable network, and FOX is a big-four broadcast network; ultimately, it’s not surprising, since On the Lot sucks and Ice Road Truckers does not.
