FOX pulls ratings loser Next Great Champ, moves it to FOX Sports Net.
FOX and Oscar De La Hoya’s The Next Great Champ has tanked so much that FOX is pulling it off its broadcast network. The show will move to cable, though, airing Sundays at 6 on FOX Sports Net, debuting this Sunday with a marathon of the first four episodes. FOX’s entertainment president Gail Berman said in a statement, “Despite its loyal core audience, the underlying boxing theme of the series has proved too narrow for us. In the end, it belongs on an outlet better suited to serve the boxing fan.” This should serve as a lesson to Mark Burnett and others who are tempted to mount a legal challenge because it appears as though someone has stolen your idea: Don’t bother suing over crap.
