The debut of FOX’s The Next Great Champ has been moved from Sept. 10 to Sept. 7. Oddly enough, that’s one day before a judge scheduled a hearing to consider Contender producers’ arguments about whether or not the show should be allowed to air. A FOX spokesperson told The New York Times that “the change was being done ‘strictly for competitive purposes.’” Right. After the schedule change, “the judge listening to arguments in the dispute, Lisa Hart of California Superior Court in Beverly Hills, moved the date of the hearing ahead to the day the show will be broadcast.” The Hollywood Reporter says that the hearing has actually been moved to this week, Friday, Aug. 27.
