Jessica Simpson says that before she and Nick began production on Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, they “sat down in the very beginning and wanted it to be reality.” She tells MTV, “We have never seen any reality show. Believe it or not, I don’t know what ‘The Bachelor’ or any of that [is about]. I’ve never watched anything.” But then she says, “We had watched a little of ‘The Osbournes,’ but I think it made us walk into it with a really fresh vibe.” Jessica, girlfriend, what do you think The Osbournes is? Science fiction? News? Get a clue. In addition to working on her sitcom for ABC—on which, she says, “I definitely wanna play into who I am on the ‘Newlyweds,’ not as a wife, but just who I am up here [points to head]”—Jessica and Nick will record an album of duets sometime next year. But none of that Sonny and Cher crap for them: “We’re not going to do ‘I Got You Babe,’ because that’s what people’s ‘clever ideas’ are.”
