ArchivesNashville Star will be getting a makeover for its fourth season, and the resulting show will look more like American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. The series debuts tonight at 10 p.m. ET on USA Network.
In addition to new hosts who will be “an unpredictable mix,” the show will be dropping the “feel-good projects or fundraisers or home visits” and the “dash of drama from the contestants’ house thrown in,” according to The Tennessean. Instead, we’ll see segments that “follow a contestant through each week’s song choice and any struggles that come up with pitch or tone or high notes or judges’ feedback from the prior show.”
Executive producer H.T. Owens says, “We want to deal directly with what we’re going to see as part of the contestant’s performance. … It’s not going to be Real World in Nashville. The focus on this year’s show is watching these incredibly talented amateurs perform week after week.”
