Nashville Star 3 debuts tonight.
USA Network’s Nashville Star 3 kicks off tonight at 10 p.m. ET. Changes to the show have yielded a new host (LeAnn Rimes), three new judges (Bret Michaels, Anastasia Brown, and Phil Vassar), and a new record label for the winner (Universal South). The search for the next country music star has already been narrowed to 10 finalists, five men and five women, all of whom are under 33. Aaron Barnhart calls the changes “a creeping ‘Idol’-ization on the show: The judges will no longer vote on who advances, the castaways won’t share a house anymore and country legends like the Charlie Daniels Band and Sara Evans will be hauled in each week as viewer bait.”
