Paula Abdul’s Live to Dance gets Survivor’s timeslot

Paula Abdul’s return to reality TV in 2011 will occupy the same timeslot that Survivor moved to this season: Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET. However, while Live to Dance will debut in January, it will conclude by the time Survivor’s 22nd season, Redemption Island, debuts.

The dance competition, which will give its winning act the same prize as Big Brother ($500,000), debuts Jan. 4, and then continues the next day in its regular timeslot, Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.

CBS said in a press release that it will “be broadcast LIVE starting Wednesday, Jan. 12,” and starting the next week, CBS says “the first six dance acts will compete against each other LIVE on CBS with two acts advancing. After a total of three rounds, the six dance acts that have advanced will compete against one another in the grand finale.”

With four live episodes—three performance, one finale—that means the show would conclude Feb. 2, just in time for Survivor to start as usual during the second week of February.
