TLC’s Little People, Big World returns with DUI trial; Secret Life of a Soccer Mom debuts
TLC’s docudrama Little People, Big World returns for its fifth season tonight at 8 p.m. ET, and will immediately focus on Matt Roloff’s trial for DUI.
The first half-hour episode focuses on preparations for the trial as “a meeting with his trial attorney reminds Matt that going to trial a roll the dice,” according to TLC, and during the second, “Matt’s DUI trial begins and the prosecution presents its case. When the arresting officer testifies against him, Matt grows increasingly concerned about his chances with the jury. Tension mounts as Matt prepares to take the stand.” Of course, the outcome of the trial already made news, so there might not be that much tension.
Later tonight, at 10 p.m. ET, TLC will debut The Secret Life of a Soccer Mom, a series that follows a different woman every week who goes back to work and will be offered a job. Tonight, the participant “secretly goes back to work as a high-end fashion designer, while her doctor husband tends to their three girls,” according to the network.
The series is hosted by Growing Pains’ Tracey Gold, who told the New York Daily News that the women “don’t really know what kind of show they’ve signed up for. They think it’s going to be relaxing and it’s going to be like a spa week. And then I let them know that no, you’re actually going to work. All of these women were career women, and when they had families, they had to leave their jobs. But this is giving them the opportunity to do the career that they left behind and see if they still want to do it, if they still like it. All these women have, at some point, expressed a longing or a desire to get back into their respective fields.”
