Little People, Big World returns tonight with accident, aftermath
TLC’s docudrama Little People, Big World returns tonight with a one-hour episode at 8 p.m. that begins with the accident that injured Jacob last October.
Jacob and a family friend were “struck several times by a 2,000 pound block of concrete,” according to a statement released last fall by TLC. Tonight’s episodes will, according to the network, show “the aftermath of the accident, including recovery for Jacob and Mike, and how the family handled the added stress of national and local media attention during an emotional time.”
Newsday’s Diane Werts says that the show “sets up the incident so that even if you know about it, the tension builds almost unbearably.” She adds that “the camera is no gawker, maintaining a respectful distance and discretion of the sort that has made ‘Little People, Big World’ one of the most family-friendly shows on television.”
The series, now in its third season, follows the Roloff family, two little people and their four children, three of whom are average-sized, including Jacob. Two half-hour episodes air Mondays at 8 for nine weeks.
