ArchivesNBC has announced open casting calls for Last Comic Standing 5, and the locations include three cities outside of the United States.
The show will cast in LA (Feb. 26), New York (March 21), Minneapolis (March 27), San Antonio (March 30), and Tempe (April 3). But NBC’s casting page notes that the show “will also be holding auditions in: Sydney, Australia, London, England, [and]
Montreal, Canada.”
With Canadians often excluded from being cast in US reality shows, never mind people from other countries, this could help diversify the cast beyond American comics who are somewhat established. (Last year, the show cast only in Austin, Chicago, Miami, New York, and Tempe, and the auditions and competitions included some well-known comics/reality show stars.)
Beyond the dates and locations of the open casting calls, NBC offers little information, excpet a hotline phone number (818.840.7667) and a disclaimer that “producers may choose to give some or all applicants less than two minutes to perform.”
